VAMOX® converts VAM into carbon dioxide and water
vapour using the well known principle of regenerative thermal
oxidation (RTO). RTO is based on the cyclic reversal of
the airflow through multiple vessels filled with heat absorbing
media to minimize heat losses during the oxidation process.
The patented and award winning BIOTOX®, commercialized
since 1991, is also based on the RTO operating principle
and has been a fundamental source of inspiration for the
VAMOX®.
Each ton of methane oxidized by the
VAMOX® reduces
GHG emissions by approximately 18 tCO2e. In addition, whenever
the VAM concentration is above 0,25%, heat can be recovered
as hot water, low grade steam or electricity can be produced
from superheated steam.
