History

Since its inception in 1987, Biothermica has evolved from an environmental technology company to a fully integrated carbon project developer, managing all aspects of the development, financing and implementation of its carbon and energy projects.

Biothermica has completed transactions amounting to more than $US 100 million in turn-key projects in the fields of air pollution control and landfill gas recovery, more than $US 45 million as an equity sponsor with regard to landfill gas collection and power generation systems in Canada and in Central America, as well as more than $US 50 million in carbon credit transactions in both the regulated (Kyoto) and voluntary carbon markets.

2011   Acquisition of full ownership of the Gazmont landfill gas power plant (25 MW)
2010   Registration with the Climate Action Reserve of first VAMOX® carbon project
2009   Commissioning of first VAMOX® carbon project, first-of-its-kind in the Americas
2008   Sale of major interest in the El Salvador landfill gas CDM project
2007   Forward sale of 325,000 CERs to be generated by the El Salvador landfill gas CDM project
2006   Commissioning of first landfill gas CDM project in El Salvador
2004   Installation of the first BIOTOX® unit applied to printing plant fumes
2002   Installation of a gas filtration unit at a coal power plant in China
2000   Installation of the first BIOTOX® unit for treating dioxins
1998   Installation of first BIOTOX® unit for treating pitch fumes
1996   Commissioning of first landfill gas power plant project – Gazmont (25 MW)
1995   Installation of first electrostatic precipitator on a bark boiler
1992   Installation of the first CLINOX®  high-temperature gas filtration unit
1990   Installation of the first BIOTOX® regenerative thermal oxidation (RTO) unit
